Baja Ridge is the stretch of park between the plaza loop and the back bay, and its landmark is Viper's interlocking corkscrews, visible from the parking lot and responsible for a meaningful share of the park's souvenir neck pillows. It is a 1990 Arrow multilooper in full voice.

The ridge also catches the afternoon sun later than the summit does, which makes it a decent late-day zone. Viper at sunset, with the valley going orange behind the loops, is one of the park's signature moments.

Viper is the classic that refuses to leave: a 144-foot first drop into a vertical loop, a batwing, and the interlocking corkscrew finale that has been the park's silhouette since 1990. It was among the tallest looping coasters in the world on opening and remains the purest old-school looper at the park.

Tips for Viper
  • Head back, head back, head back — through every inversion. This is the whole ride.
  • Save it for the golden hour; the ridge view plus short queue is the best late-day pairing.
  • Skip it if anyone in the party is prone to headaches or neck issues; nothing at the park punishes tension like Viper.
