Orlando
The marine-park side of the theme park capital: Mako, Kraken and Manta on the waterfront, plus Florida's brick-built park an hour south.
SeaWorld Orlando is the most coaster-dense of the three SeaWorld parks and one of the best single-morning thrill lineups in Florida: Mako is a hypercoaster with real airtime, Kraken is a floorless loop machine, Manta is a flying coaster that pretends to be gentle for its first thirty seconds, and the newer Ice Breaker and Pipeline fill out a lineup that would headline most regional parks.
Legoland Florida in Winter Haven is a separate decision, not a second half-day. It is built on the old Cypress Gardens site — the historic botanical gardens survive inside it, which is the best landscaping at any park on this site — and it is aimed squarely at families with children between about four and ten. Nobody over twelve should choose it for coasters; The Dragon and Coastersaurus are warm-up rides, not destinations.
The two parks share nothing but a state. SeaWorld sells Quick Queue; Legoland sells no line-skip product worth the name. SeaWorld rewards a rope-drop-and-run morning; Legoland rewards a slow afternoon. Doing both well in one day is possible — SeaWorld opens first, Legoland stays open later — but two half-days is calmer.

- Getting there
- Orlando International (MCO) serves both parks. SeaWorld is 20 minutes southwest of the airport; Legoland Florida is a further 50 minutes southwest in Winter Haven, closer to Tampa's orbit than Orlando's.
- Getting around
- A car, unless you are only doing SeaWorld, which has hotel shuttles from the tourist strip. Legoland Florida without a car means a specific shuttle or a long rideshare each way.
- How many days
- SeaWorld Orlando is a full day at a relaxed pace or a strong half day at rope drop. Legoland Florida is a full day with young kids. One day each, and do not pretend otherwise.
- When to go
- October through April for the weather. Summer afternoons are thunderstorm o'clock at both parks, and Florida rain closes coasters on wind alone, so mornings matter in June through September.
