The lakefront section holds Nitro and the park's biggest steel rides. Nitro's first drop dives toward the water, and the section's sightlines across the lake are the park's best scenery.

This is the second-morning stop after El Toro: Batman sits between the two, making the back-and-lake loop the natural big-coaster circuit.

Nitro

The 215-foot B&M hypercoaster along the lakefront — giant floater airtime, a 65-degree drop, and the park's best steel riding.

Nitro is Great Adventure's giant: a B&M hypercoaster with a 215-foot lift, a drop toward the lake at speed, and a course of enormous airtime hills and a helix finale through the trees. It is the ride style that made B&M's reputation — huge, smooth, and generous with weightlessness.

Tips for Nitro
  • Queue in the morning's second hour — after El Toro, before the midday swell.
  • The lap-bar-only restraint makes this the park's best big coaster for larger riders.
  • Ride before a meal, not after — the helix finale is the park's longest sustained force.

Batman: The Ride

The Northeast's Batman invert — the 1993 B&M suspended looper, still one of the most forceful compact coasters anywhere.

Great Adventure's Batman opened in 1993, early in the invert era, and it remains the archetype: a vertical loop, a zero-g roll, corkscrews and two tight helixes packed into a compact footprint at relentless pace. Thirty years of bigger coasters have not dulled it.

Tips for Batman: The Ride
  • Front row for the invert flight feel; back for the whip.
  • The themed queue is shaded — a reasonable midday stop when the open queues are punishing.
  • The queue's theming commits harder than the ride's footprint suggests — the dark section is short but real.

Superman: Ultimate Flight

The flying coaster that lays you face-down through a pretzel loop — the park's prone-position thrill between the giants.

Superman: Ultimate Flight is a B&M flying coaster: board seated, rotate to lie face-down after the lift, and fly the course a few feet over the track. The signature pretzel loop folds the train through a vertical loop in the flying position — the highest-force moment at the park outside El Toro's airtime.

Tips for Superman: Ultimate Flight
  • Look ahead along the track, not straight down — the perspective is the ride.
  • The harness clamps calves and shoulders; glasses need a strap.
  • Ride before the midday queue builds; its load cycle is slow.
